Dec 7th

As scheduled, our server from last night, Orbelin, picked us up at our hacienda, we then proceeded to collect his wife and son from school, then a quick stop at their house (in real Mexico) to pick up a couple of things and it was off to Barra de Potosi.

B de P is about 25 minutes from Zihua and today was very quiet which was surprising because a lot of the local working people have Tuesdays off.  BdeP has a lagoon that appears to be quite long and shallow as lots of people just walked from one side to the other.  People were fishing for the smaller fish, crabs and shrimp.

We all had a nice lunch at Teresita's Ramada and just lazed for most of the day - I did spend some time with Orbelin Jr. (aka Shorty) while he played endlessly in the water.  Our hosts were very nice although Jessie (Orbelin Sr's wife) didn't speak any english but we got along just fine.

We also watched workers at the restaurant beside us making new palapas - surprising how little time it took - many hands make light work.

We were then driven back home and said our thank you's and goodbyes.

After a quick cleanup we decided to head into Zihua centro for some tortilla soup.  We ended up back at Daniels Restaurant (located on the beach) where we had eaten on Saturday and as luck would have it a female turtle came up onto the beach to lay her eggs.  It's impossible to tell how many eggs she laid but they can number into the 80's or more and we were told they cry when they are in the laying process.  No wonder - they have to travel up a long, dry beach, dig a hole then lay all these eggs, cover them up, tamp them down and then they can finally make their way back to the ocean.  This was an amazing thing to watch - Mother Nature at her best.
