Dec 3rd

It's really hard to describe how lovely this area is - lots of tropical flowers and plants, beautiful birds and butterflies - we get up each morning and just drink in the peace and quiet and our amazing surroundings.

We ended up going to dinner last night with the only other couple who are staying at Arecas.  Walked down the beach to a place called Rossy's - food was excellent but felt it was on the pricey side - especially when they charge you $25.00 for a bottle of wine - oh well.

This morning we took the bus into centro and had a look around - typical small town Mexico - which we love and why we are here.  We then walked to the bus station and purchased our bus tickets for our trip to Guadalajara on the 14th and since we were in the neighbourhood of the large grocery store decided to add more to our already purchased provisions, i.e. lots more water and of course more wine.

After our chores for the day were accomplished we walked to Playa La Ropa, which takes all of 3 - 4 minutes, to Elviras beach side restaurant to plunk for the remainder of the day.  It seems to be a tad bit warmer today although nobody really seems to know what the temperature is but I would think it's pretty darn close to 90 degrees (I've already forgotten the celcius meter) and it gets very humid and there is all but a little breeze.

Our hosts here at Arecas are very nice Mexican folks - Pepe speaks quite good english but his wife Terry speaks very little - fortunately I have enough spanish to be able to have short conversations with her.

The hotel we are staying has only been opened since September and as of tomorrow we will be the only ones here which in a way is quite nice but later on it may get to be a bit lonely.

Fortunately for me, the bug magnet, the insects seems to be at a minimum so aren't too bothered which makes me very happy. Also, we have discovered a good sized tree frog outside our suite and there are many geckos which help in the bug department.

While we were in centro today it's very apparent that Christmas is huge here - almost every store regardless of what they sell they have Christmas paraphranalia (sp?) but I will wait to purchase any Christmas type items until we get to Guadalajara.

That's it for today - will post more pictures tomorrow.
